It is oktober again, so time for the inktober 2018 challenge by Jake Parker to make ink drawings each day this month. There is a prompt list you can use as your subject of the drawing. Some are easy and some are hard, but so great to use your imagination to come up with a page using the prompt of the day.
I joined last year with a small handmade journal and made drawings with india ink and a nip pen (dip pen or for the dutch: kroontjespen) only for the whole month. If you missed that, here you can see what I made. (and in this and this blog posts)
When I made the journal last year, I also made a second one. So this year I am going to use the same type of journal and the same very limited material. Just ink and a dip pen.
Day 1: Poisonous
Last year we had the prompt Poison on one of the days and I made a skull with poison ivy. This year we have poisonous and I thought of bottles with poison but did not like the challenge. So what I made was a bottle with a skull and a poisonous snake around it. Since I also like to handletter I decided to incorporate the prompt with large letters.
Day 2: Tranquil
With tranquil I usely think about natural environements. Water, mountains flowers and trees. I deided to make something like that with water, mountains and rocks. Didn't turned out the way I wanted it, but you can't erase india ink. So here is my tranquil.
Day 3: Roasted
Thinking about Roasted the first picture that came into mind was a pig with an apple in its mouth or a big steak. That is also what you find when googling this. Then I thought, lets do vegetarian. But roasted veggies didn't seem that appealing to draw. My all time favorite sweet with a BBQ is marshmallows. So I made a BBQ with hands roasting marshmallows.
Day 4: Spell
What to do with this one. When walking outside I saw my stone witch in the herb garden and thought: Maybe a witch with a magic wand. Drawing people and even imaginary witches is not something I am very good at. The result is an ugly witch, as in ugly drawing and looking casting a spell from her book.
Day 5: Chicken
For this prompt I made a chicken with eggs at sunrise. Easy peasy.
Day 6: Drooling
What to do with a prompt like this. Drooling dog, baby's all kind of things crossed my mind. I finally made this page: The sight of the piece of cake made her drool.
